Sturmpanzer I Bison removed the turret and superstructure from Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.B and replaced it with the field carriage of the 15cm sIG33. The crew was protected by a large three-sided gun shield which was open at the top and rear. The modification added ~6000lb (2700kg) to the chassis, and the mechanical components had a hard time coping with this added weight.
