The Pz.Kpfw.IV lineage of the Sturmpanzer is obvious when the hull and running gear are examined. This Sturmpanzer features steel return rollers, but all of the road wheels are of the normal rubber-tired type. This vehicle also lacks the commander's cupola and the M.G.34 ball mount installed over the driver's position on later vehicles. The driver here was provided with a periscope instead of a fahrersehklappe 80 visor in the front slope. Pistol ports are visible on the superstructure sides.
