This StuG40 Ausf.G has the welded gun mantlet without a coaxial machine gun port, and applique armor is bolted to the driver's plate and the superstructure front on the opposite side of the gun. The driver's periscopes have been deleted, and this applique armor covers where the apertures for the periscopes would be. There are no separate side panniers on this vehicle, since the superstructure has been widened. The hull front access hatches are two-piece and hinged to the sides. The folded-down loader's machine gun shield is visible across the roof.
